STATE OFFICER BIOGRAPHIES


Raul Patel, State President

Raul is a senior at Cocalico High School located in Lancaster County (Region 18). He began his career in FBLA as a freshman when he ran and was elected Cocalico FBLA reporter and Region 18 secretary. As a junior, he held the offices of local vice president, Region 18 president, and Eastern District Vice President. Currently, he is Cocalico FBLA president, Region 18 president, and State president.
 

In addition to FBLA, he is the lead counsel of his school’s mock trial team. He also serves as a cabinet member in his school’s Student Government, and he is a member of the National Honor Society. In his free time, he enjoys to play basketball, tennis, and spending time with friends.


He plans to attend college and major in Business Administration. As of now, he is not sure what University he would like to attend.

Eric Stephenson, First Vice President

Eric Stephenson is a senior at Northern High School in Region 6.  In addition to serving as PA State First Vice President, he is serving as President of his local chapter for the second year.  Eric also participates in many other extracurricular activities such as DECA, SADD, Key Club, Prom Committee, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Track, and is Secretary of his graduating class. 


Outside of school, Eric enjoys doing just about anything:  baseball, surfing, basketball, snowboarding, movies, football, traveling, and hopes to sky dive and go bungee jumping in the near future. 


Eric plans to attend New York University after High School and major in International Business with a minor in an Asian language.  He is very open-minded and hopes to get out and see all the different people, cultures, and opportunities the world has to offer.

Paul Blascovich, Treasurer

Paul Blascovich is a senior at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg (Region 15).  In addition to being a state officer, Paul is serving his second year as the treasurer of his local FBLA chapter.  In 2003, he competed at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Dallas and placed ninth in Business Math.  His other leadership positions include treasurer of Student Council, treasurer of his Class Council, and co-editor of the Panther Print, the school newspaper.


Paul continues to keep active in school as a member of National Honors Society and his school’s quiz bowl and Science Olympiad teams.  He also has participated in bowling club, ski/snowboard club, and indoor and outdoor track.


Paul’s true passion is roller coasters.  He has worked at Hershey Park for three years, including a job shadow to observe construction of their newest roller coaster.  After high school, Paul plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, or his dream school, MIT.

Matthew Thompson, Reporter

Matt Thompson is a senior at Mt. Lebanon High School in Region 24. In this, Mt. Lebanon’s first year of FBLA, Matt is proud to have set the groundwork for a tradition of excellence in the organization, and he thanks everyone that has supported him in the past year.


As for other activities, Matt is the co-captain of his Fencing team, and operates his own film and graphic design company, Empty Sock Productions. Also noted, Matt is a proud Apple Macintosh user, and in his time spent on the computer, he works towards becoming a graphic artist and programmer professionally, as well as probably developing subsequent carpel tunnel syndrome.


Regarding colleges, Matt is currently looking at Carnegie Mellon University and Northwestern University.

Laura Barrett, Eastern District Vice President

Laura Barrett will be a junior next year at the Athens Area High School, located in northeastern Pennsylvania (Region 27).  Laura has been a member of FBLA since her freshman year. 


Laura is also a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Technology Student Association, and participates in swimming and soccer (year round, both for the school and a club team).  Outside of school, Laura is co-president of Venture Crew 105 (a coed branch of the boy scouts which specializes in outdoor adventures).  Laura was recently certified as an EMT and enjoys whitewater kayaking, hiking, and rock climbing.


After high school, Laura plans to major in pre-med and become a surgeon.  Laura hopes to attend Penn State at the University Park campus.

Brandon Null, Central District Vice President

This is Brandon’s first year as a state officer serving PA FBLA as the Central District Vice President.  Brandon attends Littlestown High School in Region 6, just 10 miles south of the world famous Civil War town, Gettysburg.  Locally, he is serving his second term as his chapter’s Student Council Representative.  He has been very active for several years in and out of school.


Brandon has received numerous awards including The American Legion Award 1st Runner Up, USAA National Business Education Award, Honor Roll from 1998-present, and Distinguished Academic Achievement in Mathematics.  In school, Brandon is a member of Student Government, Interact (Rotary), Yearbook Club, and Concert Choir.  He is also a member of Freedom’s Answer, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, The Junior Statesmen Foundation, and has recently been nominated for membership to The National Society of High School Scholars.


Brandon serves in his school’s main office as an office aid, performing regular secretarial duties.  He is also a solo vocalist for his school, singing the National Anthem at several sporting events throughout the year.  


Outside of school, Brandon is on the worship team at his church, The Littlestown Chapel.  He also regularly volunteers his time to the local fire company, assisting his father, an EMS Sergeant, in servicing and maintaining the numerous emergency vehicles and equipment. 

Brandon wants to change the world, one person at a time, and he dreams of one day becoming an entrepreneur.  He is unsure of his future career, but he has considered attending law school and his dream school is either Dickinson or Harvard.

Levi Cromer, Parliamentarian

Levi Cromer is a junior at Chestnut Ridge High School in Region 17.  This is his third year as an FBLA member at his school.  He has competed at the regional level three times, as well as at the state level.  Last year he competed at the national conference in Dallas, TX and placed 2nd  in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure.


Levi is also an active member of the National Honor Society and Technology Students Association, in which he is competing.  He is also a member of his school’s Scholastic Scrimmage team, which competes at the WPSX studio at Penn State University.  Levi enjoys soccer, reading, and computers.  He plans on attending college to study physics.
