2008-09 Topic
Business Financial Plan
Business financial planning is paramount to the success of any business
enterprise. This event is designed to recognize FBLA members who
possess the knowledge and skills needed to establish and develop a
complete financial plan for a business venture. The financial plan
requesting a loan from a financial institution must be economically and
financially sound with a realistic time frame. In addition to
learning and applying financial business decision-making skills, team
participants develop business contacts, implement written and oral
skills, and develop familiarity with procedures of financial
institutions. The student(s) will complete the plan based on the
posted topic on the PA FBLA web site.
Restrictions: May be an individual member or a team of 2-3 members;
one member may repeat Region Leadership Conference Eligibility: Not a regional event State Leadership Conference Eligibility: Any chapter may submit two reports for the state conference; must submit project to PA FBLA
Executive Director by published deadline. Top 10 teams will
participate in oral presentation of project at the SLC.
2008-2009 Topic:
The local garden center has been in
business for five years. Currently the garden center leases the property and
buildings. The lease is soon expiring. The owner of the garden center would like
to purchase the property from the current owners. This garden center has no
competitors within a ten mile radius. Prepare a business financial plan for
purchase of the property that will be presented to a banking institution. The
plan will need to include at minimum information on the sales history of the
company, projected earnings, current assets, and the benefits of buying versus
leasing of the property. Information may be fictitious.
