BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMITTEES
Purpose and Specific Duties

The PA FBLA has created four committees in order to assess and address efficiently the many matters coming before the Board.  Most items requiring Board action will be considered first at the Board committee level.  Committees present their recommendations for each agends to the full Board.  The full Board retains the responsibility to make the final decision (accept or reject committee recommendations).  All committee report to the full Board.

Committee membership is set by the Board President after assessing the incumbents' area of expertise and consulting with the Executive Director.  Committees should elect a chair and a recording secretary.  Committee meeting minutes should be provided to the full Board.

The four standing Board committees' purpose and specific duties are:

Finance Committee
The purpose of the Finance Committee is to review, analyze, and recommend to the Board matters referred to it regarding the financial operations of PA FBLA.  Specific duties include:

  1. Review/approve financial reports
  2. Review/approve trust fund activities
  3. Monitor trust fund activities
  4. Review capital equipment requests over $1,000
  5. Review contracts over $1,000
  6. Review policies regarding cost

Human Resource Committee
The purpose of the Human Resource Committee is to review, analyze, and recommend to the Board on matters pertaining to the personnel of PA FBLA.  Specific duties include:

  1. Recommend job responsibilities.
  2. Conduct performance review process.
  3. Make salary recommendations
  4. Suggest Board appointments/nominations
  5. Recommend employee benefits/policies.

Membership Committee
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to review, analyze, and recommend to the Board action needed which pertains to the membership of PA FBLA.  Specific duties include:

  1. Retain existing chapters; promote chapter growth.
  2. Recruit new chapters.
  3. Oversee the mentor program.
  4. Explore a middle-level program.
  5. Recommend policies regarding membership.
  6. Review scholarship program
  7. Recommend policies regarding the Executive Committee.
  8. Recommend policies regarding the Board of Directors.
  9. Recommend election campaign guidelines.
  10. Review ceremonies.

Conferences and Workshops Committee
The purpose of the Conferences and Workshops Committee is to review, analyze, and recommend to the entire Board matters regarding conferences and workshops of PA FBLA.  Specific duties include:

  1. Recommend dates, locations, etc., for all conferences and workshops.
  2. Recommend policies regarding conferences and workshops.
  3. Recommend conference and workshop fees and reimbursements.
  4. Recommend policies regarding competitive events.
